All of us intelligent people with common sense on this board ran the country? Now THERES and IDEA! With all our wisdom (toolman, deadcarp, salmoneye, les) resourcefulness (ie. wood burning) , survival techniques (ie. the glove discussion) and general knowledge of animals, plants and nature, well, we could be downright DANGEROUS! Either that or we would get things to running RIGHT! LOL! Who's with me? Hey, I mean it, it could happen. ;)

(If wishes were horses, beggars would ride)

Oh well, it won't ever happen, but it was just a nice thought that popped into my head :)

hey! what about me?    Posted 01-10-2004 at 19:13:53       [Reply]  [No Email]
Haven't you heard I'm runnin' for president? I think I have Maine nailed down and I'm almost sure I have the votes in Hardee county. I think I lost a few over the Steve Irwin scandal, but gained some ground on the 'right to pack heat' issue.

Now is you is or is you ain't my constituancy?!

Cindi... Who loves her country more than blue belle ice cream and eating at Pancho's Mexican Buffet and that is saying a lot. (grin)

have you ever been turned into a toad or been kidnapped by sirens?
Loved that movie.

I watched it every time it was on the movie channels. Couldn't help myself. Hey, you ever seen Songcatcher? Thats a real good one, too. Not really the same, but it is a real southern type movie, about the grassroots music, like Stanley does, thats his name isn't it? Does O'Death.

Yes I did...    Posted 01-10-2004 at 20:15:21       [Reply]  [No Email]
in fact I reccomended that one to Les myself.

I had a tape of most of those songs but loaned it out and never got it back. No I have not seen songcatcher yet. I couldn't believe Clooney didn't sing in O'brother. That was good entertainment.

Rent it's good, I really loved it. One of those movies you can watch over and over...kinda soothes the soul.

Well, I ain't no kind of a mechanic but I know at least a little about quite a lot of things. Old farm boy what was fetched up believin in learnin and bein interested about stuff and people and places. Plus bein married to a woman who devours books don't hurt neither. Done a little of that my own self.
Kind of like Salmoneye, I'm a wealth of useless information. ";^)

My kinda man! Ian reads constantly, he is a wealth of information himself. Whenever I don't know something, I tell him "Hey, Ian, You know just about everything about evrything, tell me about this" and then I will give him my dilemma. He usually has a good answer. I think Shelby is wise beyond her years because she inherited his brainpower! Not a farmboy, but he is quite good at working on things, cars and such. Matter of fact, he does it for a living now, he works on anything and everything at Mead in Atlanta, where they make coke, pepsi, and various beer cartons. Fiddles with computers, too. We never have a regular computer, he is always taking it apart, putting things in, taking things out, half the time the cover isn't even on it, like right now! LOL! I think people like you that were raised right have more sense than a hundred people that "think" they are smart, lol.

Sometimes my wife amazes me. She's way smarter than I be but the things she doesn't know make me wonder some times. Like tonight, she asked me "What is the new name of Saigon?" Now why should I be the one to know that the answer is "Ho Chi Minh City" when she is the one who does all the reading and got a full letter grade higher than I did in college? Then she wants to argue with me about the answer I just gave her. "Well, what's the big city in the north?" she says. "Hanoi", says I. "Oh yeah, I guess you're right", she finally admits.
Like I said, I'm a wealth of useless information.

First thing I would do would be to put the end of the continuos flow of cargo ships supplying us with our daily needs. I would start to manufacture all this stuff right here in my home country. Its quite simple really.

that is what we used to do, but are you going to pay someone $15 an hour to produce something that you can have produced for $5 an hour. It really Is simple

Yeah, them were the days when we DID make our own things and they LASTED! Then the thinking changed to "just throw it out" and look at all the junk we have now. New and used.
