I've had Fords for years, and one Mazda hand-me-down from my Dad, and they were all good trucks so I can see how folks could *think* they're the best.
But my newest truck is the best by far, and it is a Dodge.

Until you drive a mile in your neighbor's truck, you don't know whether it is better or not! :-)

my only comment is for you guys to keep buying the new ones so there are plenty of used vehicles that have had the 3 year depreciation mark and I can get a good truck for half the price. More power to ya

Ford has a more corfortable seat. Dodge has the Cummins. Other than that, Chevy pretty well runs away with it. I sold firewood for years and saw about every kind of set up on trucks with folks hauling out of the woods and at our yard. By far, the Chevy will pull better, haul more and not give as much trouble. All of them have their faults, and as I drive a GM right now, it is a very ill made vehicle. I liked the older ones much better.

My brother just bought a new GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 with the new diesel. He is getting about 16.5 average mpg pulling a 6500lb load. Time will tell as the lasting ability.

Around here, all the Fords come factory equiped with the stiffest chain that you can ever imagine! I have saw countless numbers of them pushing Chevys around thru mud, up steep hills and that is with the Chevy loaded. I have to get me one of those chains.

I like Chevys! I like the looks of the Older ones. My 1980 is fun to drive. Might be 24 years old but it is mine! Mark H.

A FORD we use to call them a canhardly, rolls down one hill and can hardly make it up the other ,(unless a chevy comes along an pulls them)haha

Lets put it this way, you have to "drive" a Ford and you "ride" in a Chevy!

Worst thing about it, Toyota outsold 'em all! GM and Toyota are in cahoots!

To me with the exception of the later diesel model Fords, Ford quit making a good pick up truck in 1980.The year of body and emmissions changes.

Dodge made a ok truck up till then too, can't say I like the later ones though.

Chevrolet Started making good ones in 1980, before then they were gas guzzlers.

If i where buying a truck right now 3/4 ton down it would be a chevy....anything bigger it would have to be a Ford, Dodge does not even come into the picture....

best wishes

Well...I just posted my truck in the photo gallery, tried to drag it here, but it just red 'X'ed me. I LOVE my truck. I have had fords, don't like em. Haven't had ANY trouble with my wonderful dodge ram 1500 sport. Had it for 2 years now. Only reason I had fords for so long is because my FIL worked for ford and it was an unwritten law we had to have fords, well I broke the law, and he still likes me, as much as he ever did. :)

I'm with you Kelly. I love my Dodge. I bought it the first year that they came out with the new body style(1994). It has 125'000 miles on it, and still is the best riding and driving truck around.
If you will notice, Ford and Chevy liked it too. They have tried to make them look just like a Dodge.
The only problem I have had was a fuel pump that went out. Not too bad, for a ten year old truck.

12500 miles a year? You must only go to the mail box and back! lol

Not one to have had a new pickup since the Sixties, I found it wise to drive whatever there was the most of in the nieghborhood. Whatever there are the most of the easier the parts.
In Ford country drive a Ford.
In Chevy country drive a Chevy.
In Dodge country drive a Dodge.
And, drive a Toyota in Japan.
Merely my thoughts.

Spend some time in the Ford enthusists forum and see how trustworthy they are. Any manufacturer that couldn't make a working gas gauge for 11 years or a reliable set of fuel pumps, or a shift ignition system that fails without warning, is sure not number 1 in my book. Can't wait till Nissan and Toyota topple them. And, did you see the crash tests on the light 150, it crumbles like a match stick, and they are still making it. Ford tough, yeah

I was a Ford man until 1996, now I have a Chevy gas job and for the diesel I go with the Dodge Cummins.Ford got real ugly with their version of the EFI not mention the redesign.

I agree, Ford does build a good product, That twin I-beam is tougher but...Chevys front end rides and drives better. It's a matter of personal choice. I worked for Ford dealership a lot of years and that influenced me a lot. I had to believe in the product to support it.

TO35    Posted 01-10-2004 at 19:51:09       [Reply]  [No Email]
ohhh Ron...geezeeeee I'll convert you to a rock sooner or later....lol

You will never do it. Anything beats a Dodge tho.
In our lifetime we will see the end of the Chrysler name altogether. Just be Daimler/Benz then.
