We should have shot our 1billion$ gun law in the foot and sent it to health care.Sometimes things that sound like it's free are not all it's cracked up to be.You get what you pay for!

Trust me if its govt. sponsered its not will pay for it...

Bob/Ont    Posted 01-10-2004 at 20:45:55       [Reply]  [Send Email]
TO 35 WE certianly do pay for it. The biggest way that I can say it is justified is that everyone pays the same rate for it. It is not like Car Insurance where you get hit real hard if you or anyone in your family gets sick. I have no first hand knowledge of the US system but I have heard of people that retired early and been impoverished because someone in their family got ill and put in a big claim. I do know of a guy in NY that pays US$10,000 per year for coverage for his wife who is not yet 65 yrs old.

The U.S. systems sucks, JMHO. Would like to hear more about the Canadian system. The LITTLE I have heard is what you said, all pay the same price for the same care. Here one has to get rid of all their assets in order to get the govn.'t to pay for the hugh bills for cancer, etc. I want to know how the people from other countries can over here and rack up $100,000 plus bills and NOT pay for it! Oh Lord---don't get me started!

we have univerisal health care in canada, some of the time if we are sent to the states for some type of treatment, our medical pays ,that will happen if someone needs treatment and it can,t be gotten here fast enough to save their lives usually if we travel to the states or anywheres we usually buy travel insurance for additional medical costs(because it can be so expensive there) about 15 bucks a day or so depending on the lenght of your stay outside of canada,we never have to sell off our home or anything in order to get medical care of any kind.

Do you mean our abused free healthcare system?

Grannyworrywart    Posted 01-11-2004 at 12:11:47       [Reply]  [No Email]
Some of these responses made me laugh so hard. Thank you!

Our health care is the BEST not perfect but the BEST.

I have heard horror stories from cousins to the south who pay all their lives into insurance and once a family member gets the big "C" for example, the coverage is cancelled.

I don't give a hen's hoot if the overpaid beaur-e-brats can't keep track of health care abuses...if my kin need extended health grandmother did this past summer before she passed...then I should not lose my home to provide (what turned out to be two week pallitive care).

Do health care abuses cost us anymore than Enron cheats?

your right on, work all your life to have a home and you get sick and your faced with the choice lose your home or die, i can,t belive people would ever accept that, any policitan that doesn,t support roy romanoe,s report or at least something along the lines of his report will never get my vote.

yup taxes mark, but if they didn,t spend it on health care they would waste it on something else.

Michele    Posted 01-11-2004 at 20:19:50       [Reply]  [No Email]
ABSOLUTELY! Give Congress the money, they'll spend it on something, so force them to spend it on healthcare.

Willy-N    Posted 01-10-2004 at 21:33:11       [Reply]  [No Email]
I like that part. Give us you money and we will give you health care! It will be free free free! Of course if you are in bad health it not a bad deal compaired to buying a plan in the states to cover everything. I saw on TV there are pills that run over 300.00 a bottle and more! They seem to be the ones they advertise about to ask your doctor if there right for you??? Mark H.

we work up here just over 6 months and then afetr that they call it all tax free days , so about half the year goes to various taxes from all levels of govt. for all kinds of stuff, dan in alberta is a little better off they have lower income taxes i think and they don,t have a sales tax but alberta is oil rich and tha helps, we live 30 miles away from the border so lots of folks is they want a big ticket item like a tv or beds stuff like that they slip over into alberta and save the sales tax, they are changing that in b.c if your close to the border you don,t pay as much , guess they sre tired of losing sales.i used to shop in montana alot too.

i was watching a thing on tv last night about why drugs costs so much more there than here they said mostly because of the way drug companies advertise (costs billions) and retreats for doctors to show them the new drugs and get them ordering them for their patients, no difference to make the drugs and alot of the research an manufacturing is done here or in other countries too, here i don,t think they can advertise their drugs at least they couldn,t, i don,t watch tv as much as i used to.
