My Mama Used to Make It

Now that Thanksgiving is over, memories of past ones tend to drift into mind.
My mama used to make wonderful things from the left-over turkey, ham, etc.
The morning after, we always got turkey hash on top of our hot grits. It was great. I have made it, but can't compare with what mama did, especially when she cooked on the old wood stove. The hot biscuits and real butter made us chillun get up early without having to be prodded too much.
Happy memories to all.

November was hog butcherin time. Nothing like your mama's breakfast of fried pork tenderloin, red-eye gravy, pork brains/eggs, hot biscuts and gravy, and biscuits and molasses! After all the tenderloin was gone, you still had the sausage!

Sure beats a bowl of cereal.

Yeah, what is that makes food taste so much better after being cooked on an old wood stove? What you said, reminded me of my moms' good cooking on the old wood stove. There is a difference. lol

What's better than the roasted turkey?
Turkey pie the next day with peas, carrots and potatoes in it.

My mother in law knows how to get on my good side bless her heart.

I think ever thing was better when we used wood cookstoves, specially grits

These wimmin my boys tied up with don't cook breakfast at all.

My boys claim they don't eat breakfast, but when they come around Ma Burr's kitchen early enough they never fail to eat anyways.

Come to think of it, even them DILs eat breakfast with us too. Maybe younger wimmin can eat breakfast okay, they just can't get up early enuff to cook it.
