I want whoever is in charge of groups to post the criteria for membership. So, if you know who that individual is, whether it be yourself or someone else, it is hereby requested that you reveal that information in order that we may pay proper respect for one of such obvious high station. Now, if, per chance, you are unsure as to whom this individual may be, you may, after careful consideration, submit your choice as to who you'd most like to hold that extremely important position. Now, in as much as I have only been reading and posting on this board for about 2 months, (while recupperating from an injury) I have disqualified myself from consideration. So, it falls to you to select someone amongst yourselves to fill this highly prized position.

Now I've done my part and I fully expect you to do yours. So, write your replies and list your choices. Thanks gfp

PS I'll start the ball rolling by nominating Salmoneye.

What does it pay, and what are the benefits?

Hey, I got bills to pay....

:-)

can't you find better things to post than this ?

~Lenore    Posted 01-14-2004 at 12:38:45       [Reply]  [No Email]
Darn.... and now who decides what is "better"?

Gary says it is the one in the mirror decides what is "good",
so "better" just like "good" is relative.

So I guess the one in the mirror thinks this is "better".
Prehaps if you don't, you might start a "better" thread. :-)

rhouston    Posted 01-14-2004 at 13:13:09       [Reply]  [No Email]
It's just that this kind of thread only stirs the pot. most of them I skip just seems that somebody is set on stirring things up here. It happens every year around this time. Next thing you know people go off in a huff saying they will never visit this site again. We've lost some good posters that way.

by "better" I only mean less volatile. threads like this one are generaly not posted by someone seeking enlightenment usually they want to stir things up and watch the result.

ALIAS    Posted 01-14-2004 at 12:27:20       [Reply]  [No Email]
Well........There's a reason for this. You see, some who visit seem to think groups exist. And, I'm just trying to explore the issue and find out if they're right. By the way, who do you choose?

rhouston    Posted 01-14-2004 at 13:01:39       [Reply]  [No Email]
I choose not to. yes there is a group so to speak. mostly it's just the people that happen to hang here on a regular basis. It's realy nothing more than that. best bet is to get over the phobias and post anyway.

Don't elect me I for one realy don't get involved in politics or religion. Seems like a no win subject of 2 people voicing there opinions on what they beleive. Not sure if they are tring to change others to there side or just not sure of there own convictions? But I do like to talk about trucks, tractors, cows, fixing septic systems, little bit about guns, water wells and the weather ect. Not very interesting but it does not seem to get as many rilled up. I do enjoy reading the flare ups, kind of like watching a fight from a distance and not getting hit in the process. Mark H.

Glade to hear it. Did you use double "J"?

Fawteen    Posted 01-14-2004 at 10:00:33       [Reply]  [No Email]
I'm not sure if you're kidding or not (haven't read enough of your posts to get a feel for it) but just in case you're serious, here's a flash for ya:

This ain't a popularity contest, it's an open board. Say what ya think, and let the chips fall where they may. You'll get flamed for some things, and applauded for others. If you're thin-skinned to the point where EVERYBODY has to agree with ya, then yer in the wrong place.

Donna from Mo    Posted 01-14-2004 at 11:24:32       [Reply]  [No Email]
Oh no!!!! All this time I thought it WAS a popularity contest, and wondered why I was losing!

Geezzzz Donna, get out of my way..:-)

Thank you Fawteen. I typed a page and a half was going to post it but came back to read responces first. I read yours so I went and deleted mine. You know I feel much better now. cul8er

Jim in Minn.    Posted 01-14-2004 at 10:06:51       [Reply]  [No Email]
He was just kidding, I hope! But in any case I agree with ya Fawteen. We should all learn from each other. do dem librals some good.

deadcarp    Posted 01-14-2004 at 09:51:14       [Reply]  [No Email]
yep salmoneye fits the first 5 criteria (if i knew them i'd list them)(btw consider this a hint to whovever's in charge of [deleted] patches) but i'd hafta pick kim - she pays the bills, puts the major fires out and most importantly leaves us to stumble thru our own mistakes. most parents, teachers, preachers and all politicians could learn alot from her. :)

Jim in Minn    Posted 01-14-2004 at 10:08:21       [Reply]  [No Email]
Agreed!

I don't know...    Posted 01-14-2004 at 10:03:46       [Reply]  [No Email]
It's all too hard and confusing. How 'bout we say that anybody who has a regular name that they post at least five messages under, can be respectful and sensitive to other's opinions and can refrain from saying things like 'yo' mama' is an honorary member of the group. Huh?

Cindi

Wm. from NC    Posted 01-15-2004 at 02:47:58       [Reply]  [No Email]
It would be an honor, to be an honorary member of this group. I'm very thick skinned, as far as politics or most anything else. Skin gets thin when talkin' about my wife or dawg (Leiroi...a sofisticated beagle). I love to read about the things on this board. Ya'll seem to be my kinda folks. (I knew some of you wanted to hear a real southern boy say ya'll.)

Newgen    Posted 01-14-2004 at 10:22:01       [Reply]  [No Email]
HEY!!! I meet those criteria!! Thanks Cindi!! Maybe I'll jump in here more--it really wasn't that much fun just lurking, I could stand a good flaming once in a while, but everybody look out, cause at times I can dish it out too!!
