Yeah real responsible reporting. One man was sure it came from Iraq. Well I am sure my Japanese beetles came from Iraq too :)

There have been some similiar issues raised on the intelligence used to justify the our first "war" with Iraq.

that tells us nothing. I too wish we would find the smoking gun, but it might not exist. Still have to wonder how it all dissapeared under our noses

Saddam is out so all is well with the world until we can find Osama. From what I read they discovered the raw materials, but I still see no proof they actually had any functional WMD's. Once again I am not trying to start an argument since it is all simply a moot point now that Saddam's regime has fallen. I support our troops completely but the rest of this seems to me to be simply political arguments that would best be left for future history books to be written on

Hey LH,

"I still see no proof they actually had any functional WMD's."

Tell that to the Kurd villages he gassed. Remember those photos of mothers and babies lying dead at their own doorfronts?

Yes and where was the US's ritious anger at WMD's when Iraq was using mustard gas on the Iranians.
Words of Mass Deception.

I believe we were still fuming over the fact that a number of Americans had been held hostage by the Iranian fundamentalist regime. Sort of "the enemy of my enemy" military strategy.

UScitizen    Posted 01-16-2004 at 13:14:02       [Reply]  [No Email]
I agree about why the WMD use on the Iranians was ignored by us. However this does not make it right and diminishes the validity of our current stand on WMD's.

It's not quite that clear cut. Nothing in International affairs is. There is always a "Quid pro Quo". Actually we gave the Iraqis toxins that we were later afraid they would use against us in both gulf wars. They were for research that was agreed upon to help mankind. We did this with a number of nations. Stupid, I agree. What really bugs me is why the UN did not step in during the Iranian/Iraqi conflict and file charges in the world court when he gassed Iranians and then again his own people. To me, other than humane oriented Departments within the U.N., that world body is useless. When you become the only super power, it seems that those most likely to complain are the ones that look the other way expecting you to do something about it. When you do its a Catch-22 and then to look like a leading world body, they climb on your back, knowing well that as a Responsible world leader you will just shrug it off. Well, not this time. Not GW.

If the point is moot...Please tell the 'left' to move on...

Sure thing just as soon as the right gets over whining about Bill Clinton and Monica. Or Al Gore on various topics. Its all just history now. BTW did you ever hear any more information on whatever happened with that Iraqi ship that was supposedly loaded with weapons prior to the war?

Nope...    Posted 01-16-2004 at 11:01:50       [Reply]  [No Email]
It was 3 ships...And I'll be darned if I can find a stinkin thing about em...

Its probably like everything else we tend to get all interested in, all hype and then nothing more is said.

Salmoneye    Posted 01-16-2004 at 11:11:05       [Reply]  [No Email]
You may very well be right...

Or I could very well be wrong (as usual) just giving my unsolicited opinion thats all

I thought they had already found the most lethal WMD. Found it cowering in a rat hole. Hundreds of thousands of men, women and children died do to this WMD.

Interesting, but I know I'll get my hiney chewed for saying what I want---so I wont.
