Guess you could say that I have been kinda in a rut since the tragedy of 9-11, like lotsa folks. My wife and I have our little slice of weekend heaven that recharges our batteries on a beautiful lake in East Texas. Yesterday, while enjoying the serenity of our secluded cove, we suddenly caught site of a bald eagle that came within about 50 ft. of us, until I jumped up and yelled "ITS A BALD EAGLE!". Well, that scared him pretty good cause he back-peddled in mid-air and took off in the other direction. But what a wonderful site. We both came home full of excitement and awe. Just wanted to share the good feelings.....

Sure are beautiful birds. Seen a few up here. My uncle is an outfitter in Canada. When we go fishin on his lakes we always see them. Up there they are plentiful.

That's neat! They're becoming more common here in NH. I saw one a couple of winters ago near the outlet of Newfound Lake. They're more likely to be seen around open water in the winter than at other times of the year.

Hmm, I just realized we didn't see any this fall. We have a salmon spawning stream on our property and when the salmon are running we often see them, but not this year. Maybe we just got too busy to notice them.
