my helper josh is 18 and just can't be stopped - jeez he has energy! he came up for the weekend so of course we took the oportunity to get another jag of firewood - we had enough for thru next month but that was last week and the stove eats so can always use more. started the day at the cafe and josh always dives deeper so he ordered 3 pannycakes - never do that, especially when patty makes sure, takes a long look at you, then takes the order and chuckles. they were thick and platter-sized and he tried but i guess he did get thru about 1, i helped with a pile and we dropped half of them off for his mom. by then the wind as howling but we bundled up & got wood anyway. i meant to drive him around to check out the wolf lake fishing derby but once that afghan warmed my legs up, i was sittin dozing for the afternoon. he went outside and rounded up more wood with the golf cart, then squirreled around the lake ice with it and basically spent the afternoon outside - boy he got a pretty good windburn on his cheeks and toward dark it started getting colder yet so i reckon tomorrow he'll be pretty tame. where on earth do they get that kinda steam?
