went to the village this mornin for hard rolls and bear claws(nothing like the ones you get in lancaser county pa) on the way a hummer was down over the bank smashed into a tree it looked line an accordian in the front end i stopped and asked if everyone was hurt. the lady had a cut on her forehead, not bad, she said she had called 911 and help was on yhe way also said for 70 thousand dollars you think they would be able to make a car stop when its slippery.i said lady my 5 thousand dollar truck uses the same tires and that is what stops you just because you can drive forward at 70 mph in your luxery jeep don't mean you can stop any better than anyone else, you have to use your brain the trooper pulled up just then and said AMEN i left laughing thinking about her 70 thousand dollar wreck

I just can't see spening that much money on a vehicle. I can't even bring myself to buy a new one anymore. Got my truck practically new, and for half the price it was originally.

you'd think with all the designers out there - one would have enough brains to design a "self-sanding wheelwell" that triggered itself when the anti-lock brakes started working. i've gotten outa more trouble just by scattering sand on ice. lay down a sand trail to go right up the bank offa the lake, anywhere. trouble is, it's not instant. :)

DC a friend of mine went to the Valmet Plant in Sweden I think for training on a onestep cutter and notices on all the wheels on some of the trucks and other heavy vehicles they had groupps of four chains hangining down. He asked his Guide what it was for he told him that it was automatic tire chains. When they encountered ice they would either auto matically or manually deploy. THe way they worked they were electric or hydraulic motors and when ou lost traction and engaged them the wyould spin and these chain flails would go under the tires. They demonstrated them to him and let him do a ride along. He said it was expensive but that studies had shown it decreased wrecks by 30 percent.

I have had some experience with sanders on trucks and buses. I think they were great. Never thought about an automatic sander. I can think of some drawbacks, but those could probably be worked out. Personely I would prefer to use it when I needed it.

Had Jeeps all my life. Buying an SUV doesn't mean it has brains to drive itself. Same with Explorers. It's an option you offer yourself.

You talking a 'Hummer' or a 'Hummer II'...

The original should not be able to 'accordian' in anyones wildest dreams...That thing would have to be sandwiched between two Abrams tanks...

The Hummer 2 is a piece of yuppy junk...
