IS IT NOT A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL AND STATE LAW TO BROADCAST ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB RACIST JOKES AND STEREOTYPING AS IN TODAYS POSTING ON THIS BOARD BY "ALIAS" TITLED DRUNKEN IRISHMEN

Only if you can quote the law in question.

I'm Irish and until today didn't know it was my race! It was never even a choice on all of my college application forms - or maybe I was too drunk to read them correctly??

BOSS    Posted 01-18-2004 at 19:12:01       [Reply]  [No Email]
I'm Irish and I love those Irish jokes!!!!

God made whiskey so the Irish couldn't take over the world !!!!

JUST BECAUSE YOUR IRISH YOURSELF DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU CAN PROMOTE ANTI IRISH STEREOTYPING. YOU ARE SUBJECT TO THE LAW LIKE EVERONE ELSE AND LIABLE.

It's okay as long as they don't tell Orangemen Jokes.

like when the clinton/lewinski thing was in the news - someone somewhere in europe said "an 18-yr-old? mon ami - in our country he'd get a medal!"

Les    Posted 01-18-2004 at 19:21:10       [Reply]  [No Email]
Maybe that's why we left Europe and came here. And none too soon either, might I add.
Hey deadcarp, I saw your comment about the Picaroon. That is the name of one of the trails at the Loon Mountain ski area here in Lincoln, NH. The whole mountain has a "logging" theme to it. There's the Paul Bunyan room, trail names like Blue Ox, Walking Boss, etc. The area was started by Sherm Adams, a name a feller of your age and experience may recall. To us here, he was just Sherm. But he made his mark in the history of this country about 50 years ago as I'm sure you know.

the name sherm adams brings to mind a time when washington dc was much closer to home - "you might grow up to be president" was a popular phrase, politicians were almost like uncles, and you'd expect one to stop by the farm if he came thru. i was too young to be very really aware of all the intricacies then, but our maroon 48 chevy had an "i like ike" button on the sunvisor. i think everybody's did. yep, dulles and kefauver are old names too - and when i found out j edgar hoover had worn skirts, i felt betrayed. he'd been my one of my big-time heroes, now i'd have to somehow manage a future without him. :)

you guys have paul bunyan up there too? i drove by the original paul & babe in bemidji friday. :)

Well, old Paul and Babe made their mark out your way for sure but they originally come from back east here.
Back in '73, my folks' house burned on a Saturday night. On Monday, the governor stopped by on his way home for the night (well, it wasn't quite on his way home but he made it to be) to see what he could do for dad. When he left, dad sat down and cried to think the governor would be so nice as to take the time to do something like that. Of course they had known each other for years and we had done a lot of trading with them...bought Berkshire pigs from them and sold them cattle.
