Did you check very close for some ant tracks?

Keeping ants away the safe method    Posted 02-26-2002 at 01:03:39       [Reply]  [Send Email]
One thing we found that works very good to keep ants out is baby powder. Sprinkle it in the back of the cabinets and they will not come near it, nor will they cross it. Read somewhere that it get on them and they can not breath. I do know it works, and it is safe. I sprinkle it along the window sills and under the sink. It also smells good. If you have a wood stove, sprinkle the wood ashes along the edges of the house outside, they will not cross wood ashes either. Hope this helps. God Bless, Lil.

mix equal parts of sugar and borax soap and put little lids with the mix on them. The ants will carry the borax back with the sugar and it will kill the colony. Takes a few days but will work.

I have heard that if you spread boric acid on the ants path, they will depart the premises. I have also heard of vinegar being used this way.

Main thing as was mentioned earlier, you have to remove their food source. Ants are like cops and cats, ya feed 'em and they'll keep coming back for more freebies.

Provide Viagra to the uncles?

Seriously, we had that problem and traced it to a bit of spilled sugar that got hidden in a corner behind a lazy susan. We are now very careful to keep any ant food, mostly sugar, in sealed containers, at least in the cabinets. Once we cleaned up our own mess, the ants hung around for a few more days, then went away as mysteriously as they had appeared.
