Sweet potato pests

Hey all, got a question.

Am trying to decide where to place my sweet potatoes, but am concerned about groundhogs and deer. Do either of these things eat sweet potato vines?

My main garden has great soil but is subject to attacks by both deer and groundhogs, so I don't plant stuff there that they like. But since that's where most of the room is (and the best soil) I prefer to put everything there that I can.

So--are the sweets in danger there?

Tom
PS: I've shot my heart out, but can't get rid of the groundhogs there. Everytime I get one another moves in within weeks!

Guess I'll have to figure out another place for 'em, or just not have sweets.

Thanks for the info!
