How to clean up red water stain?

My well provides a rusty crud that plugs up the filter to
the furnace periodically. A brush cleans it OK but hand
soap doesn't seem to touch it. I would like to clean up
the flow meter and the filter more thoroughly. Anyone
have a chemical that would do that?

I have tried alot of products as we have rust in our water and it makes our tubs, sinks, toilets, and ect. look horrible. The best I have found is a product called "the works". You can get it Wal-Mart for $1.00. You can also get it at many dollar stores. Don't buy it at the grocery store, it cost about 3x as much there. Make sure to wear gloves, it is very strong.

i asked the red stain expert in our house and she said a product called CLR is asgood as she has used and you can handle it with bare hands.
