Ducks vs chickens

I'm new to this rural stuff and would like to know which are easier to raise, ducks or chickens? What about the fertilizer they produce? Which is better on the garden plants?

Chickens are much easier. But chickens will scratch up your garden or anywhere they are allowed to run (Our get free run of the place, and gardens are always at risk). On the other hand, they do eat a lot of pests like slugs and such.

Ducks are more fun to watch but they foul their water all the time when they eat and drink and take more time and care. Also there's probably less of a market for extra duck eggs--chicken eggs are always in demand even if it is just from neighbors and friends.

Go with the chickens. Especially if you're interested in garden fertilizer.
To me, ducks are much more interesting and fun but chickens are easier.
