good freinds of mine. A lady that works with me has been married to an alcholic for about 19 years now. No finer, more decent person do I know. Last night after another drunken episode she had all she could stand. She and the 19 year old daughter left him and stayed at a motel. He told her she would end up with nothing because everything was in his name except the house which was joint owned. The daughter told him they would come back today and get their stuff. He told them they didn't have any thing anymore. While the two women were at work and he was there alone the house burned to the ground. They lost everything except his things. Looks mighty fishy. When I got there he was still drunk and obnoxious. My heart goes out to them. What makes people do these sort of things?

What a sad storry! It brought back such vivid memories. I was 8 when our house was burned to the ground by "the drunk". Thank Goodness for the Red Cross. They helped my mother, baby sister, and I out so much with getting back on our feet.
My heart goes out to your friend!

Alcohol is the worse drug there is. It causes the most grief of any out there, funny how you can go to the local bar and drink to your blind and your a good old boy. Smoke a little pot and your a criminal. Alcohol should be banned like everything else, or everything else should be legalized. Just anouther double standard. Theres too much money coming in for alcohol to be banned, besides that it's the DRUG of choice among those in politics.

I hate to hear they lost the home, but it's good they are okay. Sounds mean, but it's too bad he didn't go up in flames with thehouse, sounds like he was really flammable, nobody would have said a thing. I don't know why some people are so mean. I think they are lost in life, and hate themselves, so they take it out on others. Maybe your friend will be able to start fresh without him, and her and her daughter will be better off for it, let him find his own way. I would definitely get a divorce right away and move as far away as possible from him. He sounds dangerous.

if he was here he might as well burn his half of the stuff too cuz she'd be entitled to half of whatever they might own, period. if they prove he messed it up he'd owe for that too. society's fed up with paying for other peoples' mistakes :)

I will pray for your friends. My dad was an alcoholic and was the nicest guy in the world sober but when he was drunk he was the meanest man God ever put a breath in. I never could figure out why somebody would do something that they knew made them act stupid. The one thing I learned in alanon was you can't help them unless they want help and you can't take responsibility for anyones actions but your own.

Who knows? Maybe the alcohol blinds the soul itself. My heart and prayers go out to these ladies.

Hi Folks...........
Let's not blame the alcohol.
Put the BLAME where it belongs,
on the sorry, mean, weak, low-down
husband that did the burning.

Way I see it, that's the 1 Major problem,
with today's Society.....
Putting the blame everywhere but on the individual responsible.
Everyone wants to make an excuse, for the
"poor man" who couldn't control himself.
And he's a Sorry sucker that needed a lesson
a long time ago.

It's what I see as the Real World.
Cold?/, I don't think so.
YMMV! ' Til later..........
Old John
