How mant days would a rooster need to be with hens before I can be sure the eggs are fertile. He had too many hens the first time around and some of the eggs were not fertile. I seperated him with 4 of our better hens to ensure he is not overworked but not sure how many days to give him before collecting the eggs for the incubator.

One rooster with ten hens is a good ratio. How long they are fertile, I heard for about 3-4 days. Still have not gotten a confirmed answer on that.

From what I've heard all it takes is once and the hen is fertile for thirty one days.
