WE'VE HAD A 50% MORTALITY RATE THIS KIDDING SEASON WEATHER HAS BEEN VERY COLD HERE ON EASTERN SHORE OF MD. WE TRY TO GET THEM IN SHELTER TO GIVE BIRTH PUT HEAT LAMP ON THEM JUMP START WITH WEAK KID SYRINGE IF NEEDED.NEVER HAD THIS MANY DIE BEFORE. WOULDIT BE POSSIBLE THAT THE POSSIBILTY OF THE GOATS BEING IN BRED WOULD CAUSE THE HIGH MORTALITY RATE? GOING TO KEEP BUCKS SEPERATED THIS YEAR IN THE WOODS THAT IM IN THE PROSSES OF FENCING OFF SO THAT WE CAN CONTROL THE KIDDING SEASON. WE RAISE BOER GOATS JUST CAN'T FIGUREOUT WHY SO MANY BABYS OUR DYING.

THANKS

change their bedding if you can. there's a good chance that early on one caught something and the blasted spores settled in there. i don't know how else to sterilize it.

If they are pasture goats like mine are, bedding under trees and such, that might be hard to do. We lost several last year, and a nanny or two. never did figure out what it was. Maybe Rich will know something when he checks in later.
