Been told it is tough to conquer. I've been fortunate, never cared for the taste.

Good on you Sam. Should add years to your life, and food ought to taste better too. Now don't go blimp on us...

You doing the patch? Got a 3 pack a day friend that has been smokefree since new years eve.
He is a nervous sort as it is. Fidgets like a wet cat now.

Good to know you quit. Thats the one thing being a quitter on pays off to do! :) I used to smoke a pack every 3 days or so, then I quit, just smoked when I drank, then I quit drinking, because I wasn't mad anymore, take Prozac. SO now I don't drink or smoke, just take Prozac. I am happy and balanced (Grin)

Salmoneye, You also have heartiest congratulations.
I smoked near most all my life. Started out as a show-off boy and became addicted. Must have tried to quit a couple of dozen times. Nothing worked. My daughter bought for me that herbal thing they advertize on tv. Well, it sat around here for at least three months. And, time after time I'd say to myself, I need to start this program but I wasn't sure it would work.

So, finally, after some agonizing coughing, I started to get the picture. And, it was then that I did two things. First, I got down on my knees and prayed for God's help and secondly, the next morning I started taking the pills. Now, I'm convinced that together, they helped in my struggle. For, I've been smoke free for about 10 months. And, it really wasn't hard at all. For, on the first day I lost all desire for tobacco. In fact, I never completed taking all the pills.

.........breathing easier......gfp

Perhaps you could tell me the name of those pills?
Thank you in advance, gfp.

Right you are Salmoneye, Smoke away is what it's called. It's right expensive but it's cheaper than the 2.5 packs I was burned up daily.

Thanks Salmoneye, I'll check them out.

No patch...

Fear of death will do that to you...

They found a 'lump' in my throat first week of October...I quit cold turkey that night...25+ years of smoking more than 50 hand-rolled Drum (and then Samson) cigs a day...Two days of feeling like I was drugged up out of my mind and a month of worry...

Had the lump biopsied (and surgery on my sinuses) and a chest X-ray done...So far so good...Who knew that 20% of all people have internal warts?...I sure didn't...

But at least I quit smoking...I have only gained about 10 pounds, but that was due to The Holidays and drinking myself silly in celebration for not dying...On the losing side now and will through Sugaring Season...

Should look stunning in my Salmon coloured Speedo swimsuit for summer LMAO

Salmoneye, Who Urges All To Quit...It Is Alot Easier Than Most Think

I quit a 2 pack a day habit cold turkey in 1976, after seeing a full color ad of a cancerous lung in a ummmmm "one-handed" magazine.

Fear is, indeed, a wonder motivator.

Fawteen, Who feels that was the second most important decision he ever made...

I even know the issue of which you speak...The 'ad' is still around the net...

That is about when I started smoking in earnest...

Fawteen - Heh, heh, heh..    Posted 01-28-2004 at 12:05:39       [Reply]  [No Email]
And my Mom objected to me "reading" those sorts of magazines...

Ya, well......    Posted 01-28-2004 at 15:11:50       [Reply]  [No Email]
It's this darn weather out of the North what's got us down. Most ain't a bit crabby.
Sorry to mistook your state's primary & all, but wanted something to poke fun if to keep from thinkin about the antifreeze missin in the car. Whew, why can't that cold stay up with y'all where it belongs. Huh?

We'd just the soon as get our weather out of the South,it ain't fickle. We know we get
a pile of wet. Not like that stuff from up North. Warm winds, then cold, then more cold and snow with a bit of ice. Then 47 tomorrow? Shucks-
