Its late and I'm bored since we are going to take turns keeping the water running tonight to avoid frozen pipes again.

Any late nighters here?

Anyway..back to my topic. What is your hobby if you have one?

Right now my hobby is painting scenes or critters on to 2.5 inch wooden eggs. Painting (acrylic)woodworking, glass etching and gardening are my main hobbies.

Collecting salt and pepper shakers, I found a cute little set that look like eggs just the other day at the Dollar General.
Collect anything hummingbird
collecting Miniature Tea Sets
My animals
and of course last but not least caring for my daughter and husband, and visiting family.

I've been collecting all kind of old stuff; books, toys, magazines, coins, currency from different countries, porceline/ceramic kitchen dinnerware. Also wood furniture, which I restore.
Design womens fashion and sew them, I used to pay some bills with wedding dresses. Now I only stick to nightgowns or casual party dresses, but only for the girls and me. Also make cushions, curtains, tablecloths, etc.
I've learned with some success handcrafting of many sorts, but like Lenore said, I'll lose interest, might start again when I'm pushed to spend time in a rocking chair.
Gardening, and designing plot plans for landscapes.
Now i'm trying to learn html to work on a website I might finish this year..:-)
None of my hobbies are something I do on a frequent basis.

I've always considered myself blessed, all of the things I do to make a living are basically hobbies that got out of hand. Such as trucking, buying/working on/selling old tractors, and farming. In my spare time I like to read about the above mentioned things. Also a few years ago I became interested in antique airplanes and the history of commercial aviation. You can usually find me in my 30' X 40 shop either building or fixing something. Lenore I think if your pal Clod lived closer he and I could get to be good friends!

I think you would be best buddies. As would the majority of guys on here. The ladies for some unexplainable reason would feel the need to "mother" him or adopt him. LOL

He sort of brings out a protective feeling in most of us females. He is quite capable of taking care of himself and does, but he is so nice and honest we feel he needs to be cared for. haha

Hobby .. enjoyable activity: an activity engaged in for pleasure and relaxation during spare time

Now I have a clear definition of the word.
I find I have less and less "spare time".

Taking care of my 97 year old neighbor is very time consuming. So hobbies are sort of sidelined now. Growing old garden or antique roses is one of my hobbies. Thank goodness they are pretty tough, so after they are established they do not require too much attention. They surely smell wonderful and look beautiful.

I tend to take on the challenge of a new hobby like cross stich, crochet, calligraphy, etc. After the initial challenge is completed sucessfully I tend to lose interest.

My most recent hobby was traveling all over the internet with my pal Clod. He is a great internet "explorer" he was always finding new places for us to visit and meet new people. He found this site.

meant to mention - you ever considered getting real big turkey eggs to paint? the hatcheries sell double-yokers for less than a penny each, then punch a couple litte holes and blow them empty.

That's a great idea...    Posted 01-30-2004 at 02:56:48       [Reply]  [No Email]
Would be novel too. Wonder if Ostrich eggs are available as well.

Cindi....who has no hobbies. Persay.

I do have a Turbo II carver and have bought an ostrich eggshell. They sell for about 15.00 blown out. I've not carved on it yet. I've been working on walking sticks, mirrors, and glass. My dream would be to carve on gun stocks. I've bought all the books but havent worked up enough courage.
I plan on raising turkeys this year, and I do have chicken hens that have started to lay so I'll play with those shells first. Get better at this carver before doing the expensive things.

BW, we to do a little treasure hunting with our Whites metal detector. Its a fun hobby to have on those days its too windy to go fishing. LOL I have the hand held detector and Sr (hubby) has the Whites. He will go ahead of me , find the object and put in a stick while I follow with my hand held and dig up the goodies. I cant say we've found anything worth while in the dollar dept. but I enjoy finding old objects more than I do coins. Like the big old cast iron fry pan I found in our back yard about six inches down..and under it was a ring of old skeleton keys. Makes one wonder how in the world did it get there ...and why.

My main hobby, of course, is the Internet: surfing, message boards, etc. I write a poem every morning; I guess you'd call that a hobby. And I have a horse (hobby horse?). I share my husband's enthusiasm for old tractors, so we go to antique tractor shows quite a bit. Wow, with all of that, I'm not sure I have time for my job!
