I was searching yesterday in the picture galery for the 'colored eggs' pic that
MaggieTX was asking for, and got caught up opening all kind of links from this website, although is not the first time I do this,it was fun to go down memory lane again.
The Vintage Photos are awsome!
Anyway, opened the Interactive Story link and filled the blanks with my own info, with the resulting story, must be fun to fill them out with your kids.
Cindi, I bet you have give it a try also..:-)

The Pony

One sunny day, Patria was walking down the long dusty driveway to the house after stepping off the school bus. Pancho, the Cockatiel ran up happily to say hi, but even that couldn't cheer Patria up. Kicking a stone with one foot as the house came into view, thoughts of what happened at school today made everything seem dark and gloomy.
Beny-Lou, a friend at school, had said that very day that a close neighbor was going to be giving her pony away. "Giving it away!", Patria thought with excitement. The pony was getting old, but all of the kids in the neighborhood loved it because it was very gentle and anyone could ride it. Patria would love to have that pony! After years of reading every book possible on horses and ponies, it seemed like a dream come true. When Beny-Lou said that the neighbor thought that Patria should have it because the pony would have a good home, Patria couldn't have been more surprised. Having not lived in the area very long, not many people knew that they had bought the old farm just down the road.

But happiness and excitement soon turned to sadness and disappointment when Patria realized that Dad would NEVER allow a pony on the farm. They already had cows, pigs and chickens, and plenty of work. A pony would just add to the responsibilities.

Still kicking the rock, with Pancho the Cockatiel following behind, Patria went into the house and went right upstairs. About a week went by, and all Patria could think about was that pony.

Finally, one day when Dad was working in the basement, Patria gathered up the courage to ask if they could have the pony. Tears were already gathering, in anticipation of the answer which would surely be "No"... Half-way through blurting out the story about the pony to be given away, Dad immediately said "Of course you can have a pony. That's why I bought this farm!". Come to find out, he was just waiting for someone to mention it.

Extremely excited, Patria called Beny-Lou on the phone and told the good news.

The pony was picked up the following weekend, and to celebrate they bought a brand new Red blanket to go with the old saddle that came with the pony. Years of good times followed, and Patria never forgot that pony or the day Dad let it come live on the farm.

The End

I did post under the colored eggs post about finding one (a pix) on page 105 under the topic of Rainbow Eggs. Done by Woody End or Nan TX? Just thought I'd post this information again to see if this was what she was looking for.

I've been going throuh pages and pages of posts. Its been an enjoyable trip. I just wish I knew of this site long ago.
