1200 more jobs just went south of the river, Kwick Set owned by Black and Decker, and the 1700 Wrangler employees. Are other states getting hit this hard? If so when will this country begin to feil the real impact? Coaltrain

Hey Coaltrain, I am in michigan and the impact of jobs going south is hitting home....hard. Electrolux(who makes refridgerators here) announced that they will be moving south in 2005. This will eliminate 2700 jobs. Another company that makes parts for one of the big car makers (can't remember which) let its people know last week that they are closing TODAY! This seems to be the trend here. Lots of places moving south and nobody moving in to fill the void. I have recently heard of two factories in our area that are going to be clsoing by the end of this year. This will eliminate of 3000 jobs. These companies are going south as well. I am not going to make this political (I will let someone else have the honors) but I wish this issue was something that was being addressed a litte more during the campaigns. I will end it here becasue once i get on this soapbox I won't quit.

to add to that, I read in our paper that Gm or GE, forget which, has 25 retireies for every 10 workers today. That is putting a terrible strain on their pension fund. Ir sure don't look good, but like you say, it is not discussed enough by all of out so called leaders
