my recently turned 18 yr. old son received his notice from the "SSS". the form directs him to list his full name, address, phone number, birth date and SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, all this on a post card for all eyes to see. it does give two other options for registering (online or phone call) that are hopefully more secure.

Steve, I fully understand your concern. I'd as soon not have information such as my SS# fall into the wrong hands. I would suggest putting the form into an envelope.........gfp

when i read his post "ya can do it at the post office", my mind took a left turn as it sometimes does. When I registered many years ago that was the only place to sign up. Post office served as "the federal building" also.
