Japan. Specifically, Northern Japan (less crowded). Got stationed there in 1972, re-enlisted to go back.

Only did the required amount of time, but Uncle Sam only sent me to places that smelled really bad. Except for the two hr. hold over in Hawaii in a little room where the MP's took my weapons and held us under guard using the excuse we would contaminate the island after they came and snatched me right out of Happy Valley when my tour was up. Any one else here remember Happy Valley? You know, the place where the Gov. said no American troops were ever deployed.

sounds like Cambodia or Laos? Got a brother that was flying missions in Cambodia long before we were ever "officially" there. Went in under the excuse of humanitarian efforts during flood or some such shutt.
