Religion Bashing
[Return to Topics]

On that posting below. I just have to say this.
We are involved in a religious war at the present time. Thousands have died in the world trade center and the war in Iraq continous because the enemy is flocking there to kill.
It all begins with people deciding that they don't like other people having differant viewpoints and taking some kind of action to make this known. That first action usually is to make an alledged thing called a joke. This kind of joke does not have humor as its objective, because the one doing it has no sense of humor. If you have humor you have plenty of subjects to deal with without attacking people. I love humor and I don't need to laugh at people in such an insulting manner.
A lot of people want to make Athiesm a respectable religion. It never was because it has no motive for right and wrong. Hitler had no right and wrong, only what he wanted.
Here in America we are trying to keep this country free for everyone, all we ask is that you try to avoid attacking other people. We even allow the Athiest religion. Just try to respect others. I respect your right to be Athiest and I don't want or need to attack you even though I don't agree with you.
I say Athiest, because no God respecting religion condones such attacks upon another.
As a nation we don't allow such attacks in a racial manner. Religion is something even more personal than race. Being honest, you can't change your beliefs any more than you could change the color of your skin.
The race conflict cost us plenty and the religious one has the potential to cost much more.

Well John, If you love humor so much as you state how about telling us a few jokes that do not involve people, animals, rocks, plants or gaseous elements. P.S. LIGHTEN UP.

Hi All............
The Sad fact, if you look at "REAL" history,
is that "All wars are fought over ECONOMICS!"
That's it plain & simple.

You can try to hide it behind "religion", "land-
acquisition", or "empire building".
But War is ALL about Economics, down through History.
'Til Later............
Old John

John you need to chill out. The post below was just a joke. If you are that sensitive you don't need to be reading things like this. Jesus had a sense of humor and maybe you should try to be more like him. Isn't that what the Good Book says? With your attitude you are not going to persuade anyone.

maybe we ought to rewrite this story. John was cooking his weekly steak and the catholics in the neighborhood hated him for it. "Gonna get him" they said. So they doused his fire. Now John, he got mad and cooked another. They put that fire out too, so John got his gun out and shot out the windows of the church. The catholics came over and dumped John's barbeque grill in the street. John shot one of the catholics and they then hung John from the church tower. Is that what that post was going to lead to? You thinking that a story like what was posted is going to inspire hate? Nice when one can laugh at a harmless joke, we need some humor in this world

question for you john. what will the christion's do when the fanatic persons parade down 5th ave. beating them selves and cutting themselves in their religious beliefs? do the cops lock them up or do we stand by and watch? freedom of religion in the good old U.S.A.
fredo.

John    Posted 02-11-2004 at 06:10:14       [Reply]  [No Email]
I have a very close reletive fighting the fanatics in Iraq. He may die.
I don't see your position, you seemed to have misunderstood something or are trying to twist it into something else opposite of what I said.
What you seem to be defending is, attacking the religion of people who are over there defending America.
To attack anothers religion is what fanatics do. And the Christians are over there right now fighting the fanatics so they don't get the chance to parade down 5th Ave after they have killed all the Americans over here.

Sad...    Posted 02-11-2004 at 06:14:36       [Reply]  [No Email]
"We are involved in a religious war at the present time"

If you believe this, you are already lost...You have no clue...

To say that the American men and women fighting overseas are all Christian is as ignorant and insulting as you think the original 'joke' was...

I am betting that you are young and know nothing of the world other than what you have read or have been told by others...

Salmoneye

John    Posted 02-11-2004 at 06:43:38       [Reply]  [No Email]
I did not say that all the Americans over there are Christians, only you did.
I happen to be an old man and the most important event I have left in my life here on this earth is it's ending. I started with nothing but faith in God and my country. I have heard all the comments, displaying lack of faith in both, it came mostly from the younger generation. I have found that the faith works. I am a husband, (40 years) father, war veteran, farmer and I love humor, I just don't need to insult other to find it.
All wars are about religion. If you don't know that you don't understand religion.
And Athiesm is just another religion.

"I did not say that all the Americans over there are Christians, only you did"

I did?...When would that be again?

I'll quote you from the post I replied to so you can follow along with the rest of us...

"And the Christians are over there right now fighting the fanatics so they don't get the chance to parade down 5th Ave after they have killed all the Americans over here"

Please read what you write before you reply and accuse others of saying things they did not...

Thank you for your service to our country, and sorry for calling you young, but if you really believe that all wars are about 'Religion', then you are sadly the one that does not understand the meaning of the word...

Just ask the libs...This war is all about oil...They say so all the time, so it must be true...

By the way...I am closer to an Agnostic, thank you very much LOL

On what basis do you conclude that all wars are over
religion? Could you give a for instance? I mean, WWII
was about religion? How about the current goings on in
Iraq or Afghanistan?

Religion is an aspect of pholosophy. It is dealing with the question; How should I manage my life.
Christians believe in respecting the will of God as best we can and understand. This allows us to defend ourselves but does not condone offensiveness.
The German and Japanese Governments were controlled by people who respected a violent and aggressive religion that allowed for the conditions that created WW2
If your individual religion allows aggressiveness as versus defense you will be offensive and the cause of other people's need to be defensive.
We would not have a civilization if the defensive motive did not always prove much more powerfull in the end. So while many have attempted to show that their offensiveness is powerfull the defence has always proved much more potent. History proves it.

"Religion is an aspect of pholosophy. It is dealing with the question; How should I manage my life."

Agreed, it is one way of dealing with this question.

"Christians believe in respecting the will of God as best we can and understand. This allows us to defend ourselves but does not condone offensiveness."

The same can be said of many religions: islam, bhuddism, judaism, hinduism, confucianism, taoism... the point is what? Each group can easily and regularly produces individuals who condone and promote offensiveness.

"The German and Japanese Governments were controlled by people who respected a violent and aggressive religion that allowed for the conditions that created WW2"

And these violent and aggressive religions would be what? Catholicism, protestantism, shintoism, bhuddism, taoism... which religions specifically are you referring to?

"If your individual religion allows aggressiveness as versus defense you will be offensive and the cause of other people's need to be defensive."

Again this can be said of any religion.

"We would not have a civilization if the defensive motive did not always prove much more powerfull in the end."

I don't understand this statement? Are you saying that civilization cannot persist if there is war? In that case history has proved you wrong in that civilization continues despite war. And every war is in "defense" of something.

"So while many have attempted to show that their offensiveness is powerfull the defence has always proved much more potent. History proves it."

Well you have not proved your affirmation that all wars are religous wars.

Paula

Your martyrdom is showing...And it is most unattractive and full of sophistry...

What "violent and aggressive religion" again was it that the Germans followed in WWII?
