darn, picked up the paper this morning, and there is this article about MTBE. Everyone knows it is bad, has contaminated wells all over the country, next to impossible to get rid of, but now the Repubs want to keep it from being banned. It is a money maker for the three companies making it. I am wanting to give the prez the benefit of the doubt in this years election, but he sure is tryiny his damnest to lose this coming fall fiasco. This is part of his loosening up of the clean air act. Let the corporate interest rule, seems to be the letter of the day For as presidential as he appears,I am coming to believe he doesn't give a Damn about what is good for this country.

Been checkin around and it seems we still have state governments, sooooooooo maybe they can answer why a local problem is handed to people who do not live in your state? State government can ban MTBE just as well as Federal Gov't can.
Why don't we all use our Flamatory Keyboards and write to your state reps or even local reps and ask why your state allows these in fuel?

We tried to get an exemption here in NH. It was our previous governor, the forgettable Jean Shaheen, who is now attached at the hip to John F. Kerry, who wouldn't allow it to happen.

Actually MTBE is an additive that was put into gasoline as a substitute for previous additives. It was put there at the behest of the Federal Government to improve air quality in certain non-attainment areas.
Clinton waited until his last day in office to sign the ban so he would not have to face the music from those who would ask what the alternative was. Same day he signed the pardons for the clients that paid Hillery's brother Hugh.

I have a feeling most politicians dont know or care whats best for the country. They just care about themselves and THEIR personal interests

just don't re-elect anybody, no matter how many times he kissed your baby. bingo - new blood. that way none slip by. and it sends a real clear message to those old card-players who are getting too comfy. :)

and would that apply to the current pres. of these united states?

deadcarp    Posted 02-16-2004 at 15:22:04       [Reply]  [No Email]
that applies to anybody currently in office, regardless. i'd vote them out just to remind them that they're there on OUR whim, and remind the new members to get things crackin cuz they're in the same jeoardy. in fact those wusses should start with probation instead of benefits like a real job. :)
