SH is a touchy subject on a number of fronts.
For instance:
Who will try him? Iraq wants dibs but don't have the
experience or the structure to try him properly. The
Hague would try him but some object because they
have no death penalty. The US could try him but that
would open a whole can of worms regarding the
complicit nature of the US/SH relationship up till
recently.

So it's going to be a sit and wait for a while here. At
least that's my spin on it.

Saddam may be in Noriega's old Fla hangout by now drinking salty dawgs with Pappy Bush. They usta be fairly close.

They can't let him be seen or heard from yet. He might tell us about Pappy Bush giving him the poison gas Iraq shot on the kurds and in Iran.

He is being accorded POW status...

Illegal to parade him anywhere under the provisions of the 'Geneva Conventions'...

Just the other day they were talking about the Red Cross visiting Saddam, he is still around and we are still questioning him, they we will turn him over to the new iraqi government to try him.

maybe they have different laws over there. in australia once they arrest somebody the news is forbidden from saying anything (other than "taken into custody") until after the trial is over, so they're without publicity either way.

DC I don't think that's the problem in this case. For, as well as I can tell, Iraq is still under US control. They have shown his picture but beyond that, they aren't exposing him to the various news agencies. I think it has more to do with making Americans look more humane than what the people in that region are accustomed. I know it sound harsh but it might serve a better purpose if they laid him out like they used to do to bank robbers in the old west.
