Anyone care to speculate on which
network (if any) will show Mel Gibsons
Movie "The Passion Of Christ" (not sure of name)

I believe this will be a regular "movie house" product. From what I understand it is expected to rival the first Star Wars film in amount of viewer interest and about $35 million the first week or so. Comes out on this Ash Wednesday, I think that is the 27th of Feb? Going to be interesting to see how phobic a certain part of the population is. Going to be quite a topic for this board I suspect.

I will see it when it comes out on video. I have been a victim of clever advertising one too many times. I'm sure it's a good movie, but, you know.

There will be an element of the population that will find hidden meanings and will put way more stock in it than it deserves. It's a movie. designed to make money. That's what it's about. If Mel Gibson was that concerned about sending some important message, it would have been a made for T V movie, where almost everybody could see it right away.

I mean really, do we need to see the crucifiction to know that it was horrible?

darn you must be converting me, 100% right again. But, the more controversy, the more will rush to see it. I really don't care who wanted him dead and we will never know and that is why it is just a movie. Have to wait for it on Tv Free
REt thanks for the chicken poop explanation

I KNOW! It kind of ticks me off that Mel and his cronies seem to think they had a bird's eye view to what went on those final twelve hours. Where do they get information that researchers have been trying to uncover for years? I can't believe that some people are veiwing this movie as FACT. It's just a movie! It will be interseting to watch, but it can't be viewed as anything more than an opinion. Nobody alive knows what happened and why and how, etc. Nobody. Not even Mel Gibson.

"I mean really, do we need to see the crucifiction to know that it was horrible?"

Yes...

I firmly believe that there are people that call themselves 'Christians' (and lots of others) that have no clue about the 'story' of The Crucifixion, let alone the political machinations that led to Jesus of Nazareth being declared a 'blasphemer' by the Sanhedrin and turned over the the Romans as a 'dangerous seditionist'...

"Where do they get information that researchers have been trying to uncover for years? I can't believe that some people are veiwing this movie as FACT."

If you believe 'the story' as written in 'The Gospels of The New Testament', you pretty much have to take this movie as 'fact'...According to almost all Biblical, and Rabbinical Scholars that have seen this 'movie', agree that 'the facts' are correct according to ancient writings...

Some have said that this film will feed existing anti-semitic feelings or foment hatred...
