Are there any further discussions about this mocrowave from Kenmore\Sears? What a piece of junk. They cam out an replaced something so it wouldn;t catch on fire about 8- 10 months ago. Now my microwave died 2 days ago. Of course it's out of warranty. any recommendations? Anyone with this problem?

Good luck trying to get repairs in a timely manner. The Sears "technician" came and using a pen to show me how weak the top of the unit was he shoved a hole in the top and then left saying he couldn't work on it because it was built in! Apparently you're supposed to put a microwave/ hood combo on the countertop! I've had a tremendous amount of trouble trying to get the repairs done and keep getting excuses of "we called but your phone doesn't work" "we don't work in your county", "You said our repairman could come anytime between Mon and Wed and then he couldn't call you." These customer relations people and technicians are definitely not brain surgeons! I was typing this while I was on the phone with them and of course just got disconnected by them. Again!
Don't buy from SEARS or Whirlpoool. They tell you to go out and buy a microwave unit and they will replace up to $100 of the purchase, so you can cook but not vent the kitchen fumes or grease. Repairmen do not come when they schedule, customer "service" phone people do not call back when they disconnect you. They are inefficient, uncaring, careless, and since I have one phone that takes messages and another that captures incoming phone numbers, I don't believe them when they say they tried calling me and let the phone ring 7 times. (I am home all day!) No wonder American businesses are going bellyup. If this is the kind of service we get; they should!

i've had similar problems. i purchased a kenmore through sears. six months later i received a letter about the recall on kenmore and whirlpool microwaves. supposedly the microwave could catch fire. they were supposed to repair the microwave over a year ago. i never have heard from them. i have registered my microwave 2x over this past year. recently i was able to speak with a customer rep. she said that they would come out this week. we'll see! originally they told me they would refund me up to $100 to purchase another microwave until the fixed mine. what a joke!!

keep in mind that registering the recall microwaves is just to register it and thats all, not to repair it. most people that had ther unit under a year and got a recall with it would take it back to the store, the problem is with you all

I was not even aware of this recall until...This same model of Kenmore over the counter microwave caught fire in my kitchen after being turned on for 30 seconds. It took an entire large fire extinguisher to put out the fire, Had I not had the extinguisher in our kitchen right away, I would likely have lost my home. So, don't talk to me about repairmen and store visits. These people almost killed my family and took away my home.
