a neighboring county has voted to get rid of its 4-h agent due to lack of money. This is sad although the program will still exist-it will be under the guidance of volunteers and the other 2 agents that are already swamped. Over 1000 members. It is sad to see these type of proven programs dismantled all the while when we find money to extend resources for various useless programs. The future?????

4-H has been around forever, agree that volunteers can keep these wonderful programs alive and running.....Check into it, volunteer for a worthwhile cause.

It sounds like the State is eliminating a agent from the County Extension Service. If this is the case it does not mean your County will not have a 4H program.Volunteers can keep everything going very smoothly simply by working WITH the County Extension Service. We have been doing this with our Extension Service in our State for the last 6 years. Our 4H program is alive and well thanks to the efforts that we put in to it. Mebbe you and other volunteers can do the same with yours in your area.Good luck...4H is well worth the effort for these kids!

yep that's what it sounds like. Maybe a drunk lowlife a-h agent like we have here.

4H has always been led by volunteers in my area but the county agent is the grand poo-bah over the operation.
