Texas city has just had 4 powerful explosions at the AMOCO Plant there!

Strange I was reading Alias's post about that cryptic thread below at the time the report came on TV.

Probably no connection but....

It appears that this plant had an explosion in 1999 in Gary, Ind. and thru the years, more things have happened, looks like they need to go back, review safety measures, etc. and recheck the plants for any safety infractions that have to be happening, this is not safe for folks in the areas of said plants.

Nothing about it here on the news, maybe at ten o'clock. I hate to hear anything like that, grew up around refineries at Baytown. Also remember hearing about the Texas City disaster involving the Grande Camp explosion. Keep us informed, you know we don't have much more than 2 cans and a piece of string for communications here:^)

Well there have been no more explosions after the original four. The fire was very impressive but it is being contained and amazingly there seems to have been NO injuries!!
That in itself is a miracle.

I guess it was just human error or a malfunction. It was sort of spooky since we have been notified that we are on top of the terrorists lists for attack;
the refineries and plants down here on the Texas gulf coast and around the Houston area.

I am not a scairdy cat by any means but that was thought provoking.

And I was catching up oil news at Big Dog's Well driller site.

Probably good for an additional ten cents at the pump.

It may be just a industrial accident.
However, the plants and refineries here have been on extra high security recently.

ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX,...

Just got a local report from the AMOCO plant people.
The explosions were in a furnace area and the report is "no casualties and all personel accounted for"!
That is good news.

A furnace area? That IS good news! Vic just might get to work on rebuilding it. ;)

No kidding, though, he did work at that very plant not long ago. Glad he was not there tonight!

I did too Kelly.
Local stations here are all covering it.
Of course, Texas City is just about 65 miles from here.
So we are all a little edgy.
