on the news this morning, sears is in deep trouble. about to go under for the final count. i guess that's another notch in the wal-mart belt. before long walmart will be the only store open and then watch prices skyrocket. |

There will be quite a few retail bankruptcy victims aside from Sears/Kmart. But you are wrong to assume it was caused by Walmart and that Walmart will be the only retailer left standing. Target and Costco are doing fine and are direct competition for Walmrt. Sears is more of a "Department Store" and department stores in general have been fading for the last two decades or more. You see there is this concept called capitalism which still exists to a degree and if Walmart raised their prices as you suggest people would go to another store or someone else would open a store and under sell Walmart. |

I believe it was technicaly a "merger" but as I nderstand it Kmart was the "mergor" and Sears was the "mergee" - "Kmart-Sears" and I hope Sears survives. No way Kmart will survive. |
