| If you are trying to hammer a nail in over your head that is just out of reach (but not out of reach of the hammer, since the hammer adds a good 8 or so inches to your driving arm), you can try the following; Saw a short slit in the end of a yard stick (or similar stick), the slit should be just a little narrower than the shank of the nail. Then stick the nail into the slit you made, and use the yard stick to position the nail where you want to drive it in with the hammer. Once the nail is started into whatever you are hammering into, pull down on the yard stick to free it and drive the nail in the rest of the way with the hammer. Kim, from WA, entered 1999-12-14 |
