Kountry Life Memories

Theres still Country in Calif.
I love this site, and sure enjoy reading all the stories that get told. But I have to smile when I read the ones where people moved from the Country to Calif. and from Calif. back to the Country. I was born in Ohio,(And Ohio is a great State to be from, but it is to darn cold there in the winter) moved to Calif. when I was 2, and have been in the country since I was 7. We lived in San Ramon while growing up, and went to a 3 room school. You had to hike to visit neighbor kids, and could not see any other houses from our place. Pop. was 100. I married and moved to Tracy to the Country about 25 miles away and we raised our children. Raised calves, milked a cow for home milk, had chickens, geese, rabbits, and horses. Then the area built up from Bay Area people buying and building, so we moved 13 miles West of Tracy, and are still in the Country. We can not see any houses from where we are, we have sheep, goats, steers, geese, chickens, rabbits, a donkey, dogs and 2 cats. Do our own gardening, canning, drying foods. And our Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren all live less than 15 miles from us.(in different directions.) So for all of you that think Calif. is City, and wall to wall people. There is still lots of Country here, and us Country folks are still loving it and we get the best of both worlds, as our weather is great 90 percent of the time. God bless all of you. Lil.
