Kountry Life Memories

Childhood Memories Shopping for Mother
Childhood Memories, Shopping

A moment in time when I was trusted to go to the store, I must have been about 9 years old, but I am not sure. I was asked to buy a dozen eggs and a few other items, but on the way home I dropped the small package and was horrified to discover I had broken a few of the eggs. What would happen when I got home? I was so afraid I would be rebuked so all of a sudden I got an idea that if I broke all the eggs, my mother would never identify what eggs had been brokenů.so I broke all the eggs and when I arrived home, my mother opened the package and there were all the eggs in the package, but she was horrified to discover they were broken and my little subterfuge did not work. I was sent to bed without supper and was never trusted to bring home any egg order again. Another memory, was as I was walking home from the store, I had to go to the bathroom and so I bravely walked up the stairs to an old beautiful house and knocked on the door. An elderly lady came to the door and told me of course you can use the bathroom. After leaving the bathroom, she told me stay for awhile and I have fixed some cookies and milk for you. I have never forgot her wonderful friendly comfort to me, a strange unknown little girl.
