Kountry Life Memories

This isn't an old memory, but a good one. Right after we bought our property, which includes a twelve acre orange grove, we bought a tractor, to keep up with the grove.

One afternoon Fred, my hubby was out working the grove and I decided to take him some sweet tea. I loaded up a pitcher, grabbed a tall glass and out the door I went.

I reached the grove and could hear the tractor and was trying to hone in on exactly where he was. I stopped at the end of one row and got to looking. The rows run east and west, well here came the tractor about half way down going south to north. No Fred. Oh hell.

I turned and started to run in the direction of where the tractor was going to see what was gonna happen and saw Fred running for all he was worth, finally caught up the the tractor and jumped back in the seat.

He saw me and shut it down. I walked up with this what the hell are you doing look on my face and he tried real hard to look like he knew. Finally he gave in and with a sheepish grin said he'd disturbed a nest of hornets and they wanted the tractor more than he did so he gave to to them.

'Glad you weren't here to see me running and screaming like a girl.' He said. grinning.
