Ingredients: Materials- 16 oz can chopped tomatoes in tomato juice (Mrs. Grimes brand is a good one here in Iowa) 1 medium white onion 1 green pepper 2 tbsp garlic powder 4 tbsp (+/- to suit) cayenne pepper sauce 1 tbsp black pepper 1 tbsp salt 4 tbsp corn oil Note- You can vary the above to suit your tastes, nothing here is Directions: Procedure- Dump contents of canned tomatos into a 1 quart pyrex measuring cup. Peel and chop the onion real fine (3/16' is ideal cube size). Clean and chop a green pepper (same size as the onion). Dump in the rest of the materials and stir very thoroughly. Cover the bowl or cup with plastic wrap. Let the mixture sit for a while and let the raw flavors ' 'git married & form new combinations '. Microwave 10 minutes at 50% power, to give a 'vigorous simmer' cook. (Part of the purpose of the cook is to kill any dangerous organisms on the raw veggies, the rest is to tenderize and blend flavors.) Remove from microwave, give the mixture a quick stirr, and immediately spoon into 'Gladware' microwave snap top tubs. Store in fridge 'till ready to eat. Serve as a Tostitos or Doritos chip dip right from the tub! ===== Submitted By: IHank from IA on 2000-01-12 |
