Wassail - An Old Time Refreshment
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 a cinnamon stick
1/2 tablespoon whole cloves
1-1/2 cups water
1 lemon
1 orange
1 gallon apple cider

Directions:
This is an old time drink typically used for important events and holidays. Sometimes it was laced with wine or other types of alcholic beverages.

1. Mix together sugar, spices and water, bring to a boil.
2. Make juice from the lemons and oranges, save the juice and the peels.
3. Pour the lemon and orange juice and peels along with the sugar & spice water into a pitcher or crok with the 1 gallon of cider.
4. Heat and serve hot!

This recipe can be halved to make a smaller amount. Or make more for a large group!
