1 cup cornmeal
1 cup flour
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons molasses
4 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup milk
1 and 1/2 tablespoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ginger
This is a very old recipe and produces a unique, sweet tasting version of Johnnycake.
1. Mix all ingredients and pour into a greased square cake pan.
2. Bake 20 to 30 minutes at 425 degrees.
3. Cake is done when a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean.
