Binding Wheat Huron Co. 1920ies
With four horses you seldom had to rest the horses. Posted this picture because this is the way I drove horses when I was a young lad. We drove four abreast always on the harrows. In this hitch a young colt was learning the ropes of being drove four abreast. With three older horses the young horse could not run away if he got out ahead he would be pulling the binder by him self after 80 rods of cutting he would generaly settel down and by the end of the day you might have to take the wip to him because he would be slacking up and not pulling his shareof the load.
