last spring about this time, my sister's church group gathered everybody's old seeds and just declared an area behind the church as "God's garden". The idea was that kids or poor people or whoever would find some good there. I'll tell ya - it was kinda like noah putting out the word the ark was ready! I mean people came to plant, water, tend and walk and kids sang and picked radishes and peas and pets chased around and critters nibbled and bounced and flitted all over - turns out God's garden was a regular paradise :)
I tell you this because sounds like you have a spot like that - you know what the deer liked best? Oh they grazed down the corn before it eared out, that was okay, but at harvest time they pulled every pumpkin apart and licked them clean. So why not just let the word out, gather and use old seeds and see what happens? :)
