Here's pict that shows what you are intrested in.

The handle is fastened to a square tube that has a smaller square bar inside. When you pull the handle it turns the tube and bar. There are two beveled pieces with pins inside them attached to the tube and bar. A spring inside the tube keeps the bar pushed out. The beveled pieces "cam" against the mating pieces in the frame and pull the locking pins out of the "ears" on the scoop body. BAMMMM!!! Down the scoop goes! :-)

There is a catch that holds the handle in the "released" position. When you lower the tractor's lift arms so the scoop and frame come together, the catch hits the scoop body and lets the handle go back up letting the pins engage the ears to hold the scoop and frame together.
