I posted a comment earlier about using a homelite pump to propel a boat - well it has 2-inch ports and a 5-horse gas motor so i'm guessing maybe 12000 gph -they run around 200 gpm on a good day. Rather than start dividing a cubic ft by 2" circles, with jet pumps they figure the mechanism might lose 1/3 of the power so it SHOULD push about as hard as a 3-horse outboard. Which will buck the current enough to get me home.
Anyway if it pumps atall i plan to punch a hole in the boat and start wrenching. Let's see, it'll need to turn laterally, pivot over rocks, not ingest excess seashells, ---- yup yup, and i can scrounge a plastic intake cover off an old jetski - okay, let's suck! :)
(if nothing else, i reckon bob still has that paddlewheel thing he pedaled around the lake years ago - if my motor starts, there's another angle. Otherwise i always have that old snowblower. and a 550 honda bike. Oh heck we'll be fishing this summer yet! Hey - how would you propel a boat with sawdust? :)
