It doesn't end there. My son has told me that many kids react when he tells them his dad's a Viet Nam vet (we had Johnny late in life, when we were 40). They ask if he's crazy, etc. More than 40% of the homeless here are vets. Makes me upset with our country. Just now they are addressing exposure to agent orange. My dh is getting evaluated for injuries. They want statements from people who knew him before going to Nam. LOL We found only one. They want to know about doctors visited. They were all Army, should be in his records. We are inundated with a stack of paper to fill out.

DH was hit with "friendly" 81 mortar. Wasn't supposed to walk. He does. But now arthritis is developing at injury site. Experimental surgery on his hand is having repurcussions now. Half of his hand is plastic for the bones. Now having problems gripping. Strange skin problems from either agent orange or just jungle rot carrying his stuff. Type 2 diabetes and Hepatitis C that he's been diagnosed with in the past year are supposedly attributed to the agent orange exposure.

The huge VA facility out here is barely operational. Most buildings not used.

What a shame.
