Clod, I have sort of slid over the digital age. I like analog meters and I love scope meters. The analog meters are full time real time. Digital meters are sometimes real time, it's all in the sample rate. Even with a fast sample rate they just throw meaningless numbers at you if things are moving fast. You can see things happening on an analog meter and even more things down to 5 Nanosec on a hot scope meter that will record. At work they spent $10,000 in parts and labour trying to get a paver to run straight after a customer had it repaired himself. A half hr with the my lesser scope meter nailed it down to a speed sensor triger wheel induced Glitch that fooled the computer into making it correct for a slow track that wasn't slow and around she turned.
