Never...NEVER let anyone make you feel bad because you exersized good manners, or "civil behavior". Your "modern woman" is the one with the problem.
I believe that women are every bit as capable as men. I do also believe that there are certain things that men should do out of respect for women. They aren't meant to be "belittling". Like all of us, my mother was a woman. That woman you ran into MIGHT be someones mother some day. (If anyone can stand her......Some people use personality for birth control) My father taught me to treat ALL women with respect, if for no other reason, for my mother sake. That has always been good enough for me.
I wonder what her reaction would have been, had you just let the door swing shut in her face? John
