What an accomplishment you've done!
60 miles? Is it flat?
I've driven/vanpooled/used mass transit 60+/- miles each way for over 7 years. I just got a job that's about 10 miles away. Commute drops from 2.5 hrs/day to 40 minutes/day.
You're day is pretty much gone when you get home, so dont' count on accomplishing much during the week. If you have the option of flex time, you have like 3 days off every weekend or every other weekend, but that just makes the days you work longer.
Was it hard? yep.
Was it time consuming? yep.
Was it worth it? yep.
Would I keep driving if I hadn't gotten the job?
I actually got to like the "decompression time." Listen to the radio, sing, talk, plan, relax.
It can be good, but it does whack the heck out of your car...some $30k miles/year. Thgre's probably busses, trains, vanpools..all that stuff to check into. Check it out...something may work for you, if you decide to work in town and live out there...
You could commute and work toward living there. It may take you a few years, but then you'll be there.
