Funny you ask, I just drove through it last Wednesday on my way to Walla Walla. Nice area but no pine trees!! Lots of farming, very very small town. I don't remember exactly how the houses look but I was extremely impressed with how the places are kept up in Walla Walla. It's a primarily Morman comunity (WW). Being down close to the Columbia, it seems to always have a breeze. If you cross over at the Umitila cutoff and go straight through Walulla Jct., it's a nice drive, not too far.
