We have a feller that is on a cicuit from Texas to Wisconsin that paints roofs, grain bins, and sheds. He uses a silver tar looking stuff that coats well. There is nothing done in the way of priming of even prepping for that matter. Our place still has the original 1910 metal roof so we're doing something right! Try to find out who paints the old grain bins in your area. Good luck!
