Posted by New-Gen on July 22, 2004 at 07:22:01 from (4.158.3.232):

I used to deal with a couple of old guys named Weldon and Bud.
One day Bud sold a tractor to Weldon and hired me to deliver it. I never knew the details of the whole deal but I do know that their bickering took on a life of it's own during the process.
All the while we were loading and chaining the tractor down I was given a blow by blow report from Bud's perspective.
The last thing he said to me as I was getting in the truck was "Give him your freight bill, if he thinks it's too much just take whatever he wants to pay and I'll make up the difference. Don't worry New-Gen, I won't let that @#$@#...@@#$ you"
So off I went, and upon arrival ad Weldon's place I was given another blow by blow account of the whole transaction. Well, I guess it was the same deal, but it sure didn't sound like it coming from Weldon! But I maintained my usual neutral position, politly listening, throwing in properly timed uhhuh's and huhhuh's.
Whenit came time to get paid Weldon told me to give him the bill. I gave him my freight bill, also the bill Bud had sent up for the tractor.
He gave them both a quick look and told me to sit tight for a minute as he went back to his office. {He would have asked me to come back with him but it was always so cluttered there was barely room for one person}
He came back with ONE check! He growled "Here--I paid it all with one check--I made it out to you--for the tractor and freight both. You take out your freight and give him the rest. Don't you worry New-Gen--I won't let that @#$%....you!!
Takes all kinds don't it?
