Three years ago, we were given an old thoroughbred mare. They said she was twenty two yrs old, but she was all skin and bones and I figured maybe closer to 30 yr old. Heck she could mow the pasture as well as any other. She didn't take much care and was sweet as could be. Happy to be breathing I guess, since she would gone for dog food at a sale. Her teeth were still good and she actually put on about three hundred pounds. Well, this am I went out to do the morning feeding and she was standing next to the water trough with a busted leg. She was just loping through the pasture last night. Darn shame. I called the offal company, they will put her down and haul her away for $75.
